Tour Itinerary
We start the city tour in the center of Cusco with a visit to the Cathedral. The Cathedral houses important collections of gold and silver work, elaborately engraved wooden altars and a beautiful collection paintings. After visiting the Cathedral we go to the Koricancha, or temple of the Sun, located on Sol Avenue. Koricancha was an Inca Temple that was taken by the Spanish conquerors who build a convent on top of it.
We continue our tour by bus to the upper part of Cusco where we first visit Tambomachay, the temple of water. Then we have a short visit to Puca Pucara, the red fortress, before we go to Qenqo. Qenqo means ´zigzag´ or ´labyrinth´. There are carvings everywhere, although some are a little indistinct: a llama, a condor and snakes have been identified. Inside the rock there are a number of caves and passageways and an alter which was used for the sacrifices of llamas. Lastly we visit the impressive Inca Site Sacsayhuaman. This fortress is build with enormous stone walls, in zigzag shape.
After the tour we leave you in the center of Cusco at around 6 pm.
